Behavior Management:
We have 5 basic rules in our classroom:
1. Follow directions quickly
2. Raise your hand for permission to speak
3. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat
4. Make smart choices
5. Make your dear teacher happy
We have a clip chart in our classroom, each student has a clip and depending on their behavior it either moves up the chart or down when warnings are given. Students are rewarded for good behavior with a good sense of accomplishment, treats, free time and occasionally extra parties. We work towards class points as well for extra privileges. If a student by chance is making bad choices and continues to make those choices, they will receive a white slip. Students are always given the opportunity to work their way back up the clip chart and I encourage them to do so. I do explain what they need to do to change the behavior so that the classroom is a place welcome to learning and growing by all.

Homework Policy
Research shows that 2nd grade students should spend no more than 20 minutes on homework each night. Homework for my class will be to:
* Read at least 15 minutes every night. Students will receive a reading log each Monday and it will be due each Friday. The reading log needs to be signed by a parent.
A spelling list will be posted on the class website each week. Students are encouraged to write their words twice each night; plus, read the words for spelling and read them for reading. Spelling practice does NOT need to be turned in. Spelling City is also a fun way for students to practice their spelling words using a computer or handheld device.
Math work will be done in class with myself or a classroom aide. By completing math work in class I'm provided with data that helps me know what skills students need extra help on, or who has mastered certain skills and is ready to move on to the next step. This will allow me to differentiate the work that each student receives. If you would like your student to practice math at home you have several options.
1. Print the Math Practice Page found on Go Math Website.
2. Play math games on Go Math that align with our classroom work.
3. Practice math facts on Reflex Math.
